Ireland South East’s Cartoon Saloon bags another Oscar nomination with Late Afternoon

Cartoon Saloon have achieved a fourth Academy Award nomination as Late Afternoon has made the 2019 Academy Awards shortlist for the Ireland South East-based animation studio.

In a statement Cartoon Saloon said, “it’s been an amazing journey and we couldn’t of done it without the support from the crew here in Cartoon Saloon, Screen Ireland and RTE.”

“Thank you to the whole team, we are so excited to be heading to the Oscars but tonight we’re going to celebrate with the crew!”

Previous nominations

Cartoon Saloon have been to the Oscars on three previous occasions with founders Tomm Moore, Paul Young and Nora Twomey all members of the Academy.

Secret Of Kells (2010), Song Of The Sea (2015) and The Breadwinner (2018) saw nominations for Best Animated Feature.
