A Science channel documentary series, “Building Giants”, has aired an episode that describes the construction of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge that crosses the River Barrow at New Ross. The 887m bridge forms part of upgrades to the €230 million New Ross bypass and is due to open in early 2020. A camera crew followed the fascinating construction process over three years from 2016 to 2019 as the bridge edged its way from both sides of the Barrow to finally meet in the middle. The programme features stunning footage of the bridge and surrounding areas and is well worth a watch. It is available in full here:
