Employee numbers and operating profits rose exponentially last year at Waterford-based Genzyme Ireland Ltd – which is owned by Sanofi.
Employee numbers increased at the pharma firm last year rising by 59 from 714 to 773. Operating profits also rose by 50%, despite the pandemic, to €65.2m.
Genzyme is one of the world’s leading biotech manufacturers. Established in Waterford in 2001, Genzyme Ireland is the primary distribution centre for many of Genzyme’s major treatments with a focus on: rare inherited disorders, kidney disease, orthopaedics, cancer, transplant and immune disease, and diagnostic testing.
