Brittany Ferries have reported a massive 32% increase in freight figures from Rosslare to Bilbao, Spain
The huge increase in freight traffic from Rosslare Europort to continental Europe shows no signs of abating, with Brittany Ferries reporting nearly one-third of an increase in freight figures from Rosslare to Bilbao compared to this time last year.
Brittany Ferries revealed that they are now carrying 1,000+ freight units per month on the route connecting Wexford to Spain and that, in total, 7,874 units were carried in the first eight months of this year – which is a sharp rise of 3,246 units on 2020 figures.
They have consistently carried more than 1,000 trucks and trailers per month to Bilbao, and the number of companies using the service has increased by 70%. Additionally, the most recent data shows that many haulage companies are changing the way they transport goods across the continent. The number of unaccompanied loads on the route has increased by 46% in a year, mirroring wider industry trends.
Ferry lanes linking Ireland with Spain were opened for the first time by Brittany Ferries in 2018.
