GIY Waterford and Supervalu to help school children experience the wonder of growing food
A new partnership between GIY Waterford and SuperValu will provide 50,000 Irish primary school children with the tools for growing food and food literacy education. The ‘Let’s Grow’ project aims to put homegrown food center stage in classrooms across Ireland.
SuperValu and GIY are passionate about supporting homegrown fruit and veg, now and for the future. The more homegrown our food is, the better for everyone. That’s why they have teamed up to deliver SuperValu ‘Let’s GROW’, a free initiative enabling 50,000 kids across Ireland to develop food literacy and experience the wonder of growing your own food.
Register now for your class to receive a FREE classroom growing kit, with everything pupils need to start growing some of their own food. The SuperValu Let’s GROW Kits will be delivered directly to your school in early March in time for spring planting.
Each kit includes:
- 5x seed varieties (cress, peas, salad leaves, sunflowers and pumpkins)
- 32x compostable pots
- 32x magic compost discs
- 1x resource booklet with growing guides, lessons and activities
- Loads more classroom goodies!
There’s a world of magic beneath our feet just waiting to be discovered. From small seeds, great food will grow. We all just need to get our hands dirty.
