Offshore Wind Sector: Design, Manufacture, and Supply
“The FLI Group and FLI Precast are proud to be key members of the engineering supply chain to the offshore wind sector that has the potential to make Ireland a European leader in renewable energy. The FLI Group based in Waterford and Carlow are focused on providing sustainable solutions to our global client base and working closer to home on Dogger Bank and other large infrastructure projects gives us an opportunity to assist in Ireland’s ambitions to reach carbon neutrality in the years ahead.”
FLI Precast Solutions Ltd played a pivotal role in the development of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the world’s largest offshore wind farm, situated in the North Sea, 70 nautical miles off the coast of Yorkshire, UK. This project is a landmark in renewable energy, showcasing the potential of wind power in contributing significantly to the energy grid.
Project Name: Dogger Bank Wind Farm
Location: United Kingdom
Duration: 3 Months
Services Provided: Design, Manufacture, and Supply
Products: Chamber Risers and Cover Slabs
FLI Precast Solutions Ltd was entrusted with the design, manufacture, and supply of chamber risers and cover slabs, essential components for the wind farm’s infrastructure. Their expertise in precast concrete solutions was crucial in meeting the stringent demands of an offshore wind farm environment.
The Dogger Bank Wind Farm, with its 277 turbines, is set to produce 3.6 gigawatts of power, enough to power approximately 6 million homes. This project is not only a testament to the capabilities of renewable energy but also plays a critical role in the UK’s energy security and transition towards net-zero emissions.
The £9 billion development of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm is a significant investment in the UK’s renewable energy infrastructure. It is expected to create jobs, reduce electricity bills, and contribute to the country’s goal of decarbonising the electricity system by 2035. The project has received strong support from the government and is seen as a critical step in generating renewable, efficient energy from British seas.
Each rotation of the 107-metre-long blades on Dogger Bank’s turbines can power an average British home for two days, demonstrating the efficiency and advanced technology employed in this project. FLI Precast Solutions’ involvement in such a technologically advanced project underscores their commitment to innovation and sustainability in the renewable energy sector.
