Powering the South East: Connecting Business to Offshore Wind Opportunity
Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber brought national and international expertise to Dungarvan on 9 October for Powering the South East: Offshore Wind & Regional Opportunity.
Held at The Park Hotel, the conference welcomed Minister of State Timmy Dooley TD and Danish Ambassador to Ireland, Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, alongside leaders from Government, energy, industry and education.
Supported by sponsor ESB and strategic partners Tonn Nua and EirGrid, the event connected businesses with the organisations shaping offshore wind development and the region’s readiness to participate.
An exceptional speaker line-up included representatives from Wind Energy Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Port of Waterford, SETU and the National Maritime College of Ireland. Discussions explored national policy, grid connections, infrastructure, skills and supply chain opportunities, with practical insights into how local companies could prepare and get involved.
The conference placed the South East firmly in the conversation about offshore wind’s potential to support regional enterprise, employment and future generations.
The Chamber will continue facilitating connections between policy, delivery, industry and community. A follow-up conference is planned for May 2027 to review progress, deepen business engagement and explore how international partnerships can help build local capacity to deliver.
