Ireland’s first fully passive commercial building, Senan House, opens in Enniscorthy Technology Park

June 27, 2023/in Agri Sector, Creative, Engineering, Financial Services, ICT, Infrastructure, Investment, Life science, News, Remote working

In a significant boost to Wexford, a state-of-the-art Energy A Rated building at Enniscorthy Technology Park has officially opened its doors. The building, known as Senan House, is poised to become a national landmark in the landscape of sustainability innovation.

The four storey, 45,000 square feet Senan House will serve as a dynamic ecosystem that promotes creativity, innovation, and growth for technology and sustainability-driven companies. The building, the first of a number planned on a 40 acre technology park, is expected to house a range of start-ups as well as established enterprises, offering them a conducive environment to grow, collaborate and create ground-breaking solutions.

Developed by Moyne Point Limited following site development by Wexford County Council, the building represents a considerable investment for the area. It is powered by solar energy and fitted with unique sustainability features such as advanced air change systems and a green cafe.

Project architect Art McCormack of MosArt:

This building was conceived to be a sustainability beacon in a contemporary structure with subtle nautical references reflecting its riverside location as well as the historical boat-trade of Enniscorthy’s past. Given its elevated position, it will hopefully complement existing architectural feature buildings in Enniscorthy, such as Enniscorthy Castle and Cathedral, adding a building of our own time that enhances the town’s profile.

Notably, Senan House has already started attracting businesses, in particular those with a focus on sustainability. Tenants currently include the GreenTech HQ Innovation Hub – a dedicated location for organisations pursuing the development and provision of green technologies, products, and services – and Pinergy SolarElectric, one of Ireland’s fastest expanding solar energy enterprises. In addition, the international financial services group, Azets and Curam Healthcare will occupy significant areas within the building.
