There has been significant advancement for the Ballingarrane Business, Science and Technology Campus with the awarding of a contract to the RPS Group to design and seek planning for a 10,000 square metre Advance Building Solution on IDA owned lands within the Campus.

The Design Team will provide a full range of multi-disciplinary consultancy services to originate a design, develop the project and obtain planning approval for an Advanced Building Solution on IDA Ireland’s lands at Ballingarrane Business, Science & Technology Campus. Following an open procurement process, RPS Group was identified as the successful tenderer for this project which is being jointly funded by IDA Ireland and Tipperary County Council.

The Ballingarrane site commands a high-profile location of approximately 250 acres immediately to the north of the N24 Waterford to Limerick national primary route on the outskirts of Clonmel. The site has been identified as a suitable area to for the sustainable development of a Strategic Business, Science and Technology Campus and has the ability to cater for the full spectrum of development opportunities, ranging from start-ups to spin outs, second stage funded companies through to the largest multinational organisations. Clonmel is already host to a range of blue chip indigenous and international companies, collectively employing over 4,000 people in manufacturing facilities in Clonmel and its immediate hinterland.

Pratum BST, which has been mandated by IDA Ireland and Tipperary County Council to act as the Contracting Authority for this project, aims to facilitate and provide for the sustainable development of strategic enterprise, knowledge intensive, technology-based industries and large-scale employers in the Ballingarrane Business, Science & Technology Park. This includes the provision of Research and Development/Innovation facilities which would support enterprise and employment.

Launching this new and exciting project, Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, Councillor. Roger Kennedy commented:

“Today marks a significant step forward in the positioning of the Ballingarrane Business, Science and Technology Campus as a location of choice for future foreign direct and indigenous investment, capitalising on Tipperary County Council’s investment of €1m in the last two years in essential campus infrastructure to allow this project to proceed”

Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council, Joe MacGrath said:

“My thanks to IDA Ireland for their continuing commitment to Tipperary and for their support and advice on this project. My appreciation also to Anthony Fitzgerald, Head of Enterprise Tipperary County Council and former Director of Services with Tipperary County Council Pat Slattery for their work in advancing this and other projects on the Ballingarrane site”

Also attending the launch Sarah O’ Connell Department Manager, Strategic Property Management, IDA Ireland said:

“As set out in IDA Ireland’s Strategy, Driving Recovery & Sustainable Growth, the availability of a sufficient supply of quality, marketable, serviceable property solutions is core in supporting our work in attracting and winning investment. Our Strategic Property Management team constantly reviews the portfolio to ensure we have such sites in regional areas for future strategic development to support both IDA Ireland and indigenous industries. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Tipperary County Council.”
