startX community event this Wednesday in the Medieval Museum in Waterford

South East Technological University (SETU), has officially launched: startX. A pre-accelerator programme aimed at supporting four cohorts of ambitious early-stage innovators.

startX will suport the early stage start-up ecosystem in the south-east region, focusing on specific areas of innovation aligning with research areas of the four Technology Gateways within SETU:

  • Design+ Technology Gateway;
  • Pharmaceutical & Molecular Biotechnology Research Center;
  • South Eastern Applied Materials Research Centre;
  • and, ICS Technology Gateway at Walton Institute

Join us at 11am on December 13th to hear from the startX team, ask any questions and listen to the inspiring story of our fireside chat speaker, Waterford-native Shana Chu. The “garment technologist” is revolutionising online shopping and sizing frustrations with her company Tailr.

Come along for our first of many startX community events and enjoy some minced pies!

startX is an opportunity for early-stage participants to gain knowledge and experience in the entrepreneurial ecosystem by taking idea-stage concepts and learning how to validate and scale. The startX programme will be delivered on-site at SETU campus locations, giving participants access to the world class R&D and technological insights at SETU’s technology gateways. They will gain a better understanding of an entrepreneurial career path, being provided with best-in-class tools to think clearly about the opportunities to pursue. They will also be exposed to world-class insights and experience from industry leaders, and be signposted towards right-sized supports within the local ecosystem.

startX has been designed to bring innovation and scaling skills to a wide range of entrepreneurs. If you have an idea and you want to test whether or not it’s suitable for your ambitious plans for growth, then startX is for you.

We welcome applications from:

  • Individual with an idea.
  • Early-stage start-ups.
  • Student* entrepreneurs, currently based at SETU, or at other institutions.
  • Local South East businesses looking for an innovative edge to fuel their growth.
