South East to be used as a testbed for European study into intrapreneurship
The Ireland South East region is to be used as a testbed for an innovative European study into intrapreneurship. The word ‘Intrapreneurship’ is most often used to describe the entrepreneurial behaviour of employees and the development of new ventures within the existing structure of an organisation.Funding of €300k has been secured by the Ireland South East Development Office for the project through the EU’s Structural Reform Support Programme.
The Ireland South East region is home to a diverse mix of multi-nationals, large indigenous companies and SMEs across all sectors including Life Sciences, Engineering, ICT, Agri, and Financial Services. Many of the region’s most successful entrepreneurs have started their business journeys within large companies in the South East. The project, which will be carried out by AARC consultancy, will seek to establish what good practices should be put in place to optimise levels of intrapreneurial performance within companies and enhance the levels of intrapreneurship among employees.
The study hopes to increase the competitiveness of companies in the region, combat regional economic disparity, and provide resilience against future economic shocks such as Brexit. The establishment of best practice in intrapreneurship can then be rolled out nationally and across the EU.
