The Brewhouse in Kilkenny’s Abbey Quarter will be open and occupied by Easter.
The Brewhouse is expected to be finished by the end of this year, with a three-month fit-out to follow.
CEO at Kilkenny Abbey Quarter Development, Jason Clerkin, said:
“It’s moving on nicely at the moment, we expect to have it finished in December and we’d expect to have tenants starting to come in in January with bums on seats in the first quarter of next year”.
He adds “We’re really excited about that, there’ll be people working here and it’ll be great to see the building in use and it’ll be great to see the couple of hundred people down here and the benefit it’ll bring to the city and then we’re moving on to get the next building on site once we have planning next year”.
Phase 2 of the project will begin in 2022, with the creation of an urban street and St Francis Park, a 2.5-acre park that will be “a significant piece of public realm in the city center,” as well as an outdoor performance space and will be home to a Spiegeltent.
Funding has also been approved to build an outdoor performance space adjoining the Watergate that can seat 250 people and can be accessed from The Abbey Quarter.
The planning phase for a boardwalk at Green’s Bridge, which will connect the Linear Park to the Riverside Park, will begin next year, with construction set to begin in 2023.
