The Sunny South East will be living up to its name this week. Make sure to make the most of it!
- Catch some sun rays at Benvoy beach.
This beach itself is beautiful with a host of cliffs and rocks formations. It’s the perfect spot for a sunrise swim. There are tonnes of beaches in Waterford and this one is definitely near the top of the list.
- Go for a spin on the Comeragh Drive
The Comeragh Mountains stretch from the coast out near Dungarvan as far as Clonmel. The Comeragh Drive is one of our favourites. It is a very impressive drive which brings you along the mountain range from Dungarvan, up to the Mahon Falls. This drive captures the beauty of the mountains, the falls and the lovely landscapes around every corner.
- Go back in time at Kilkenny Castle and Gardens.
The castle is the perfect place if you want to travel back in time and see how some people once lived. It is one of the only restored and preserved castles in Ireland. The gardens are impressive and the perfect place for a picnic. The castle is currently free to enter.
- Visit Vinegar Hill
Vinegar Hill sits at the top of Enniscorthy, Wexford, giving visitors a spectacular panoramic view of the town, its surrounding townlands and the River Slaney.
- Duckett’s Grove and Gardens
Duckett’s Grove, Carlow is considered to be one of the finest Gothic Mansions and demesne in Europe during the 19th and 20th centuries, it consisted of twelve thousand acres spread across five counties. Originally a three-storey over basement Georgian country house, built circa 1745. Traces of this Georgian style can still be observed in the entrance block and front façade. It is mighty impressive, and the gardens are beautiful for a wander around.
- Go for a walk around The Vee
The Vee is located close to the border between the counties of Tipperary and Waterford and is the main route over the Knockmealdown Mountains. From The Vee you can expect to enjoy spectacular views of the Galtee Mountains, Comeraghs, and Slievenamon. You may even pick out the Rock of Cashel on the horizon with the Devil’s Bit in the distance beyond it. The views are very impressive.
