Innovative Companies in Ireland South East – Immersive VR Education
Immersive VR Education is a virtual/augmented reality software company dedicated to transforming how training & educational content is delivered and consumed globally by providing educational institutes and businesses with the tools they need to create their own content using virtual classrooms or virtual training environments.
Virtual reality has the power to educate people in a way that was not possible before. In 2014, David and Sandra Whelan founded Immersive VR Education based on this premise. Immersive education has the potential to break down the huge barriers that traditional learning has always struggled with, through experiential learning.
David Whelan, CEO of Immersive VR Education, stated:
I had an epiphany the first time I used a virtual reality headset. I began researching the uses of virtual reality at that time and noticed high-end institutes were using this as a low-cost method of teaching and training. That was when I saw the potential for virtual reality to enter the education and training market for worldwide consumer use.
Immersive VR’s ENGAGE Technology is being used in America for virtual reality medical training. This Autumn, students at Fisk University will attend in-person classes at one of the first virtual reality (VR) campuses in the world. Fisk University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the top ranked HBCUs in the country. This new model of learning combines the in-person classroom experience with 5G-powered VR technology, enabling students to explore the complete skeletal structure, muscle structure and the eleven human organ systems while still engaging in-person with their classmates and instructors.
Dr. Vann Newkirk, President, Fisk University, said:
“We’re combining the best aspects of virtual and in-person learning, and this is the future of education. Fisk University is emerging as a tech leader among colleges, and our effort to bring a virtual reality cadaver lab to campus exemplifies our commitment to provide students with a state-of-the-art education.”
