Week-long exciting line-up at Toys4Engineers
Toys4Engineers is back and not only that but it’s bigger than ever!
It is back with a live Expo at the new Waterford Repligen plant. There will also be online activity spanning a week-long celebration and showcase of engineering, technology and life sciences from across the country. The Toys4Engineers is a hugely important event to showcase the talent and innovation that exists within the engineering, tech and pharma industry on a national level.
Taking place from September 27th to October 1st, the calendar of events includes Meet the Buyer meetings, industry training, speed networking, daily conferences, an online jobs fair, digital site visits and a career guidance seminar for second level students considering a career in STEM.
Launching the event, Gerald Hurley, CEO of Waterford Chamber said:
“Having Toys4Engineers online last year proved extremely successful and it has given us the opportunity to grow the event even further into a week long offering. The one element we all missed was our live expo, so we are delighted to be bringing this back again, in accordance with Government guidelines.
Our venue this year couldn’t be better. Thanks to Repligen, who announced 130 new jobs this week, we will be hosting our Expo at their new facility in Butlerstown. At present, the facility is empty as fit-out is due to commence in October and to be in a position to host our expo in this state of the art facility will certainly add to the occasion. The building is perfectly aligned to the green agenda for Waterford which will be a core theme to Toys4Engineers, as Waterford looks to become the first decarbonised city in Ireland.”
Welcoming Toys4Engineers to their new facility, Jonathan Downey, MD of Repligen Ireland stated:
“Coming on the back of our jobs announcement this week, I couldn’t be happier to support this event and offer our new facility as a home for the Expo. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our 33,000 square foot LEED Silver building and also to support the region in terms of promoting engineering and life sciences. We have long standing connections with Waterford Chamber and WIT and we have been involved with Toys4Engineers for a number of years, so to be in a position to host it is fantastic.”
Ken Thomas, Head of the WIT School of Engineering said:
“This is the fifth year of Toys4Engineers and as the positive impact of engineering grows in the region, so too does this event. We are excited to bring together speakers from all over the world for our daily conferences, each which will have a specific theme, including Automation, Robotics and Cobotics, ICT and Digital transformation and of course Decarbonisation and the Green Deal, among others.”
